How to get rid of ring around the collar

This seams to be a universal issue for all guys, myself included.  How to get rid of ring around the collar?  The lighter the shirt color the more it shows up, especially with white dress shirts.  It is not something that you can eliminate no matter who you are.  Why do you get it?  It's pretty simple, we sweat and the oils of the skin have to go some where.  I have tried a bunch of different options over the years and found the one I am about to show you to be the most effective.  It is a little time consuming so I will give you two other options at the end.  If you get stains in the arm pit area from wearing antiperspirants, you can also use this technique in that area as well.

Here are the things you will need:

Step 1
Put a table spoon or two of Cascade in a bowl and add a little water until you get a paste.  If you add to much water just add a little more Cascade
Step 2
Get the collar of the shirt wet in the sink.
Step 3
Scoop some of the paste on your tooth brush or use your fingers to get in on the collar area.
Step 4
Use the toothbrush to gently scrub the paste into the collar area.
Step 5
Load the shirts into the washing machine.  Some say you should let the paste sit for 30-60 minutes before washing.  I normally just put them in the machine and set the start timer for 60 minutes so I don't have to think about it.  Do whatever works for you.
Washing tips - I always wash my clothing on cold and use a slightly slower spin cycle.  I hang all of my shirts and pants and do not put them in the dryer.
I wouldn't suggest doing this process more than once a quarter because you could damage the material on the collar with the toothbrush and the powder soap.
If this is too much work for you, then you could also try using the following two options.  You still need to wet the collar before applying the cleaners.  I would not recommend letting them sit for any length of time before putting them through the wash cycle.
