Let’s be honest, most guys don’t think about getting a pedicure, nor does it typically come up during happy hour conversations. However, there are at least 4 reasons why men should get a pedicure.
1. Your significant other will appreciate and love you for it!!! (Honestly I could just end the blog post there, but there are more reasons to continue).
It’s the season of sandals and flip flops, which means your feet will be exposed to the world and no one wants to see what your socks and shoes have been hiding all winter long. Before you think about going sock-less at the baseball game, sports bar, pool, barbecue, or beach you need to get those feet taken care of.
2. Getting Rid of Foot Oder
Letting the soapy water run down to your feet during the shower does not clean your feet properly, even if you “use a scrub brush” on occasion. Feet are a breading ground for lots of bacteria and getting rid of dirt stuck under toenails is important. Part of the pedicure process includes a salt scrub that exfoliates your feet getting rid of dead skin, one of the leading causes of foot odors. A good pedicurist can also alert you to potential issues like corns, bunions and fungal infections, which are easier to treat when you catch them early.
3. Prevents Ingrown Toenails
A big cause of ingrown toenails is improper cutting of your toenail length. Lack of foot care can also cause toenail diseases or fungus that can cause all kinds of problems. Did you know that healthy toenails are there to protect your toes from trauma? Honestly it wasn’t something I thought about until I was talking to a specialist.
4. Foot and Calf Massage
Do I really need to explain how good getting a massage feels? The foot massage promotes circulation that is good for your entire body. Let’s put it this way, once you have a pedicure you will ask yourself why it took you so long and you will hopefully schedule our next appointment while you are checking out.
Think about this for a moment. Our feet are literally the foundation of the body and we rely on them everyday to take us everywhere. They deserve a break and some special pampering!!! I don’t care if you are a “Closet Pedicure Recipient” as long as you get them.
